I am Leon “The Encourager” Bullard, health and wellness adviser, author, speaker, and owner of Metavive. My desire in business is to help people make rewarding changes in their lives. I started Metavive in 2002 as a personal development company specifically focused on helping clients improve their physical health and ability. My business has continued to develop over the years. I have worked with over one hundred and fifty different clients during the past decade and each has had different reasons for wanting my help. What they do have in common is the desire to improve. Most give their best effort toward that aim. It is essential for me to be at my best because it permits me to bring out their best. I am particularly fulfilled when I hear clients describe me as challenging, knowledgeable, creative, encouraging, positive, professional, dependable, caring, or pleasant. These are the words I envisioned people using to describe my service when I first dreamed of how my business would serve people.
For many years, my company mantra has been “Shapes You to Excel”. The idea is held up by two pillars of my company purpose. One point comes directly from the word I created—Metavive. When I began my work I knew that I had a passion for helping people change their lives. Later I realized that I thrive on helping people change for the best. The second point nicely sums up the Metavive focus in one word: excellence. I am unable to do the actual work that changes my clients’ lives. I am grateful for the role I play in the process. But, I am a supporting actor—at best. Well over 90% of the credit for any results they attain I give to them. I use the knowledge that my role is small to ground myself and concentrate on what I can truly control.
Excellence is something I can control. I can be excellent. Performing at my best each day with each client is my permanent goal. It is a tough goal to master and a high standard to maintain, but it is worth it because being excellent is the essential ingredient I use to encourage excellence and expect it from others. Do you want to excel, too? Let’s shape your progress together.

In addition to running my company I also run track. What began as a mere decision to be active during the spring semester of high school has been a love of mine for nearly a quarter century. I earned local, state, and national championships and top performer awards in track and cross-country as a youth. In college I was a multiple time Atlantic Coast Conference finalist and Penn Relays competitor. Currently I still compete as a USA Track & Field masters athlete. I have completed eight All-American distinguished performances since 2005. My main events are the 400, 400 hurdles, and 800, but I have been known to sprint the 100 and endure a 5K as well.
